BUSY DAY

6 months, 4 days

Peter had a busy day!  It started out with his 6 month well-baby visit.  Doctor said he was "perfect!" He weighs 17 pounds, 12 ounces (70th percentile), is 27 3/4 inches long (90th percentile), and has a 45 cm head circumference (75th percentile).  He also got some of his immunization shots.  Here he is with the little band aids on his chunky thighs:

After his appointment we went into SF to run some errands for BOOK/SHOP and have some fun.  Peter got a new toy ambulance that he loves!

We also visited a great park in Berkeley where Peter got to try out the swings and the slide.

WALKING

We had a nice evening get together with Uncle Jordan and Aunt Danielle....getting ice cream and having a nice walk.  Peter enjoyed the outing and spent quite a bit of time flirting with Danielle! :)

Happy Boy!

6 MONTHS

6 months!

Peter is 1/2 a year today.  I can't believe how happy and healthy he is.  What a blessing.

A FAVORITE "TOY"

It is nice to be home and back into our routine.  We took our walk today and Peter spend a big chunk of the excursion playing with my credit card.  Just turning it around in his hands, completely fascinated. 

It was also a very warm day, so he got a be out in short sleeves and bare feet!  Hurray!

SHOPPING CART

 5 months, 29 days

Peter sat up in the shopping cart at Target like a very big boy today.  It was his first time doing this and I think he felt very proud.

FLYING HOME

5 months, 28 days

Flying home was the pits.  Peter was very cranky, and we had a flight delay.  It was a long day.  Here he is on the plane, in a moment of contentment (and very intense concentration), looking at the shiny buckle of my purse. However, as you can see, the contentment didn't last long.

GARDEN

5 months, 27 days

Didn't get a close-up picture of the little guy today, but here is a lovely photo of him in Grandma and Grandpa's garden, the "Natural Zone."  Peter especially liked looking at the birdbath and putting his hands in the (very cold!) water.

SATURDAY WITH FAMILY

5 months, 26 days

We had a nice Saturday with the family.  Peter loved going to a Mexican restaurant with his grandparents and two aunts.  He ate lots of baby food while we ate our yums, and also tried a lick of lemon and a nibble of refried beans.  Not a huge fan of either...yet :)

In the evening we played some board games, and Peter liked watching in his Grandma's arms.

GRANDMA

Peter sure does love his Grandma. Look at that smile! Also, doesn't he look HUGE?

OUTSIDE

Peter is loving spending time on Gma and Gpa's grassy front yard.  Look at that happy boy!!

INDIANA

Peter is not sleeping very well (AT ALLLL) since coming to Indiana, but he still seems to be having a nice time. He loves his Grandma and Grandpa, and is enjoying spending time outdoors in a beautiful Indiana Spring.

PLANE RIDE

5 months, 22 days

Peter and I flew out to Indiana today to visit my family.  I was really nervous about flying alone with him for the first time, but he did great!  Hardly a peep out of him the whole trip. He seemed to really like it, actually. He especially liked looking at the other kids on the flight and sitting in his own "big boy" seat for a little bit since we had the whole row to ourselves the second leg of the trip.  Hopefully this is the beginnnig of many wonderful travels for Peter March!

PETER RABBIT

5 months, 21 days

Peter LOVES his new Peter Rabbit "cuddle book" (despite the very somber face displayed below). Actually, he mostly likes the washing instructions tag attached to it.  He just stares at the thing and fiddles with it all day. 

MELLOW

5 months, 20 days

Peter was fussing during church today, so I took him out and fed him. Afterwards, he and his bunny got very mellow.

CHEEKS

When Peter was born, one of his most distinguishing features were his HUGE cheeks.  He has grown into them a bit at this point, but they are still pretty chipmunk-y.

LAUGHING

Peter loves to giggle....we got a real belly laugh today when I made his stuffed elephant jump up and down on his tummy.

MORE FOOD

We ate some apricot/sweet potato today.  I swore I would never post pictures of my kid with food all over his face, but here you go....

(I know I am a TRUE parent now, because I think he looks totally adorable.)

He might get messy, but he cleans up pretty good too ;)

NEW WAYS TO EAT

Peter has started eating some solids in the past week or two.  He really likes to eat with a spoon and enjoys anything you give him.  Today we tried a couple new feeding devices that he seemed to like.  First we tried out a spoon that holds the pureed baby food inside for less mess (we tried peas).  He he is, posing with the new spoon:

Next we tested out this little mesh container that holds whole pieces of food (such as fruit). It lets the baby chew and suck on the food without a fear of choking (we put an orange piece inside).  He LOVED it!  I think he thought it was very cool to be in so much control :)

SITTING

5 months, 15 days

Peter has recently started sitting on his own (for a little while at least, until he topples over), but we have had a difficult time getting a photo for some reason.  We tried to get one this morning, but he fell over and hit his little head before we got a good shot.  Here is the poor guy being comforted after the fall (so sad!):

Later in the day, however, we got a good picture of him, much happier, watching his cousin Christian.  So stinkin' CUTE!!!

TIRED OUT

Today was Erik's day off, so we were out and about a lot.  Among other things, he got to visit his Aunt Kelly, who he loves so much :)  He had fun, but sure is tuckered out.  Hopefully he sleeps all through the night!!

EASTER

Today was Peter's first Easter.  We felt so blessed to have him on this holiday that celebrates life and love; he is just so darling.  I felt like he looked more beautiful than ever today.

EGG HUNT

5 months, 12 days

Peter went to his first Easter Egg Hunt today.  He loved looking at all of the other kids and had fun touching the flowers growing in our friend's backyard.  Can't wait till next year when he can walk around with his own basket. 

EVERY DAY

I have wanted to start some kind of blog about Peter FOREVER, but the thought of going back through photos and trying to document him from birth to the present day has felt so overwhelming it has prevented me from starting anything, sooo....I decided to just start today with a simple snapshot from the day. I thought that an easy way to do this would be to post a photo or video everyday (hopefully everyday).  I don't want to stress about it being perfect looking, just on getting something up everyday.  I think it will be a great way to watch this little guy grow.
